Water Towing Tank Facility

Description of facility

The water towing tank is a steel tank equipped with glass windows on both walls and on the bottom of the tank. The windows are installed for optical measurement techniques and flow visualizations. On the two upper edges of the tank rails are installed for the moving model rig which hauls the model through the tank. The moving model rig can reach velocities between 0-5 m/s as a constant or variable velocity.

  • Start of operation: 1977
  • Test section size:
    Cross-section: 1.1 m x 1.1 m
    Length: 18.0 m

Maximum velocity: 5 m/s
